Surrounding Amsterdam
Staycations within The Netherlands now is more important than ever, so why not come and visit Amsterdam and its surrounding areas. Stop by us in the Cornelis Schuystraat for a long weekend break. Close to central and also close enough to transport links and major road networks.
Take advantage of our booking direct discount and stay the weekend with us with a hearty breakfast to go each morning and we will be delighted to share our favourite take away dinners on return to the hotel each evening. Our rooms, with comfortable beds, large showers and views overlooking the Cornelis Schuytstraat streets really do provide a home from home.
Amsterdam Oud-Zuid is filled with beautiful 20th century architecture, trendy shops cafés and restaurants. A great opportunity to explore this local and quiet part of Amsterdam. You can easily spend each day at a new destination walking, exploring and drinking coffee! Here are some of our choices.
Haarlem, just like a smaller and quieter version of Amsterdam is accessible by train. A short walk from the train station is the main square, ‘Grote Markt’ with St Bravo Church, charming 17th century buildings and plenty of restaurants for lunch.
Zaandam, a little bit further outside Amsterdam, but still only 20 minutes by train is great to explore the countryside by foot or by bike. Zaandam has lots to offer such as The Zaansche Mill, Zaans museum, walking trails and home to The Netherlands oldest house, Czar Peter House. This area in Noord Holland is fun for all including children.
We also recommend a trip to Volendam. The Dutch town located on the Markermeer lake, 30 minutes by car or 1 hour by public transport. It is well known for its colourful wooden houses and the fishing boats in its harbour which is lined with seafood vendors. Try some fresh fish at De Dijk restaurant. Learn all about the history and folklore of Volendam in one of its museums, such as Volendams museum or the cheese factory.
Don't forget to speak to us for more recommendations and 'to dos' in the area.
